Orange International Street Fair 2007

One of the unique things about living in Orange ("the city with appeal") is the annual Orange International Street Fair, which has been held in the downtown plaza every Labor Day weekend since 1910. Although we don't attend every year (last time was in 2005), we do try and make an appearance every so often. When Dori and Cass wanted to go after the Disneyland 5K Marathon, we thought we'd join them.

The idea is that you walk around and try all sorts of different types of food and drinks. Most of the people running booths are local organizations (high schools, firefighters, church groups, etc.) that use the event to raise funds.

This year Tim got an order of aebleskivers from Denmark Street. Aebleskivers are these deep-fried balls of sweet dough that are topped with raspberry sauce and powdered sugar. I had beef teriyaki skewers from Japan Street and an elote from Mexico street (AKA corn on the cob). We also had two lemonades and shared some Australian potatoes.

We actually only stayed about an hour because it was so freakin' hot outside. We seriously couldn't wait to get back into the air conditioned car after our quick visit.
